Perfect Weather at Inexpressible Island

It is a few days since I last submitted a report on the expedition. I am writing this from Terra Nova Bay early on a Sunday morning and a Katabatic wind has just forced us to terminate a landing earlier than planned. These winds are a feature of this area, they are unpredictable and can make Zodiac operations difficult.

We arrived here last night just as a Katabatic wind was dying and had an amazing and incredible few hours ashore on Inexpressible Island in perfect weather, where Scott’s Northern Party wintered over. It was a late dinner and this morning we set out at 0500 for an Antarctic Continent landing (most of the landings on a Ross Sea Expedition are on islands) near the newly constructed Korean Base. Everybody was ashore when the Katabatic wind started but some skilled seamanship from the crew and Zodiac drivers got everybody back safely. I am now looking forward to breakfast which will be ready in 30 minutes.
