Nissan Island Sing-sing

We landed on a beach at a small village on Nissan Island today and received a rapturous welcome from the population that had arrived from all over the island for their annual gathering. Excited children led us to the school grounds where we were treated to an energetic ‘sing-sing’ cultural performance of eight different dances they had been rehearsing for many weeks. After the festivities our group was free to roam the village, visiting homes, talking to locals and seeing how life is lived in this remote part of PNG. Tomorrow our last day in Papua New Guinea will be spent on Bougainville Island exploring the area around Arawa before we say hello to the Solomon Islands.
