Nearing Macquarie

We are nearing the end of our second full day at sea with the swell picking up to around 3m and a rising westerly at 15-18knots.  Everyone is settling into a comfortable rhythm with regular films and lectures punctuated by fine food and the odd nana nap.  Dr. John reports no misadventrures. "It's pretty hard to damage yourself sitting down reading a book" he says.  We have increased speed to beat a fast moving depression and should arrive at Macquarie Island around 2200hrs tonight.  Wildlife sighted so far includes a few whales and Wandering and Shy Albatross.
