Magadan Bound!

The Sea of Okhotsk, our second expedition of the 2014 Russian Far East season, got underway from the Port of Korsakov yesterday under bright blue skies. We have a varied mix of nationalities on board which adds to the experience as we steam towards Magadan in this little known ocean with a rich natural and human history. As I write we are approaching Tyuleniy Island where thousands of Fur Seals and Steller Sea Lions are breeding. Unfortunately the weather deteriorated overnight and at this stage we are not sure whether we will be able to make a landing on this tiny island which teems with life.
