Iceberg Watch

There is a following sea so we are making good speed as we head south from Macquarie Island which was special as always. We had a full day ashore at Sandy Bay with the King and Royal Penguins. The following day we enjoyed a guided tour of the ANARE Base at Buckles Bay where the science was explained and we had the chance to see Gentoo and Rockhopper Penguins at close quarters. The Antarctic lecture series began yesterday and will continue over the next couple days while we make our way south. We expect to sight our first icebergs sometime this afternoon, so expeditioners will spend time on deck between lectures scanning the horizon for that first magic white island.
