Ice Climbing Bear

Our evening landing at Astronomicheskaya Bay (Estuary) must rate as one of our most scenic. It started with a spectacular bear encounter as we watched in amazement as this sub adult male climbed a vertical ice cliff.

A particularly majestic male also watched us as we watched him, until he eventually wandered off into the Taiga forest.  Another encounter was a female with a cub. She didn’t stay in view long however, preferring to take her cub away from prying human eyes.
