Humpback Encounter
When the second Wrangel Island expedition for 2015 got underway last night, the crew was still abuzz after the incredible send-off around 200 Humpback Whales gave departing expeditioners. The seas surrounding the ship churned with huge fins and tails – there were whales everywhere! What a way to finish the adventure!
The new group was welcomed aboard in the afternoon in near perfect warm, sunny and calm weather conditions. Once everybody had settled into their cabins we sailed for our first landing site at Preobrazhenya Bay.
