First Landing at Norfolk Island

Today was our first landing. Just before midday we anchored off the coast of Norfolk Island and began transferring passengers to the jetty by Zodiac where we were greeted by Margaret and her friends and family who were to escort us around the island.

Arriving in Norfolk

We all headed off to Palm Glen National Park in search of the Norfolk Island Green Parrot. No sooner had we all split up on various walks when we received the news via walkie talkie that a Green Parrott had been spotted. During our time in the park everyone got to see the Green Parrot, Crimson Rosella, White Terns and Masked Boobies among others.

Following afternoon tea, we again split up. Those wanting to continue bird watching went to One Hundred Acres to view seabirds nesting on the cliffs while the rest of the passengers took a tour around the island visiting the convict settlement and some spectacular lookouts. A few of the group then finished with a nice refreshing dip before returning to the ship for drinks at the Globe Bar and a recap of the day at Norfolk Island.
