First Landing of Antarctic Expedition at Enderby Island

Day 3. Despite the rain and high winds, we had an eager group ready to explore the Ship’s namesake, Enderby Island. We split into two groups of long walkers and short walkers. The long walkers walked the perimeter of the island seeing a variety of birds and plant life, while the short walkers stuck to the boardwalk and crossed the island enjoying views of nesting Royal Southern Albatross. The highlight was watching the ‘families’ of Sea Lions protect their territories on the beach before boarding the zodiacs and heading back to the ship to dry off. - Guest Blogger Sherry Ott
