Enderby Experiences

The day started early with breakfast at 6.30am so passengers could make the most of their day on Enderby Island. Taking packed lunches with them, they were ferried ashore by Zodiac after the washing of boots where they were greeted at Sandy Bay by large male Hooker’s Sea Lions. From the beach the group made their way along the board walk through the Rata Forest and blankets of megaherbs such as Bulbinella rossii and Anisotome. At the end of the board walk they were given the option of walking right around the island, which many of them decided to do. On that walk many Yellow-eyed Penguins were seen along with Southern Royal Albatross and the Light-mantled Sooty Albatross. More Hooker’s Sea Lions were also seen along with the Auckland Island Snipe, Teal and Shag. Although the day was foggy with scattered showers, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their time ashore. We are now setting a course for Macquarie Island.
