Enderby Creches

Our arrival at Enderby Island offered a good oportunity to stretch the legs.

Everyone spent quite a lot of time observing the creches which contained numerous grey furry bodies in the form of New Zealand or Hooker's Sea Lion pups on the beach. These endearing animals were a source of great interest and photographic focus. We also enjoyed a particularly close encounter with a Southern Royal Albatross that had decided to nest so close to the board walk that we had to go 'off piste' so as not to disturb the family. The group also spent time with Yellow-eyed Penguins, Auckland Island Shags and Light-mantled Sooty Albatrosses on their nests.
