Eagles and a Helicopter

We have now embarked on our 'In the Wake of Bering' expedition to assist Birdlife International and Birds Russia in searching for the critically endangered Spoon-billed Sandpiper. Our first stop was at the Zhupanova River where we took our Zodiacs up-river for several miles searching for the majestic Steller's Sea Eagle which breeds here. We found several of their nests and had great views of these impressive birds.

Soon after this excursion, four voyage participants who were delayed due to international flight disruptions had the thrill of joining the group by helicopter. Now we have everyone on board we will push onwards in the footsteps of Vitus Bering.
