Dancing for Ringgi

Today most of the group travelled by truck to Imbu Rano Lodge, gateway to the magnificent Kolombangara conservation area which takes in the whole of the island above 400m. The birdwatchers had a splendid time spotting several species endemic to the Solomon Islands. The kayakers set out on a quest to find a Japanese fighter plane shot down during WW2, while the snorkellers found a wide variety of unusual fish life on the reef. The highlight of the day however was the rendition of the "Chicken Dance" performed for the Ringgi villagers by the ship’s doctor.
