Brown Bears
The storms have passed and the sun has broken through the clouds, making our work much more pleasant. We conducted two coastal surveys today along the North Eastern coast of Iturup Island and were rewarded with sightings of a good numbers of animals and stunning views of the volcanoes. The shore based survey teams reported the highlight of their day was seeing several brown bears. We will stay in our sheltered anchorage overnight and tomorrow head north to Urup Island.
