Bounty Islands in our Wake

Yesterday we took the Zodiacs out for a close look at Ringdove Bay in the the Antipodes Islands, where we got some great views of the endemic Erect Crested Penguin and the two endemic Parakeets.

Today we were off the Bounty Islands, the most remote of the New Zealand Subantarctic Islands. The Bountys consist of about 12 granite 'rocks' covered in penguins, albatross and Fur Seals. Unfortunately conditions were not suitable for Zodiac cruising as there was a strong northerly wind and a big swell, but the lighting was superb and there were some great photos taken of the rarest cormorant in the world which is endemic to these islands.
