Borchgrevink Ross Sea Anniversary

We are now pushing our way through sea ice approaching Cape Adare in Antarctica on the day those interested in Antarctic history will know that Norwegian explorer Carsten Borchgrevink made the first landing here in the Ross Sea region 119 years ago in 1895. The snow capped mountains of the Northern Victoria Range are bathed in sunlight making a beautiful backdrop to the scenery which features the occasional Adelie Penguin passing by.
