Birds of Noumea

An early start to our day in Noumea had us arriving at Riviere Bleue National Park by sunrise. Within minutes we had an amazing interaction with a Kagu which proved to be the first of many, thanks to the great efforts to protect this endangered bird. A total of 14 endemics were seen during our time ashore with highlights being the Cloven-feathered Dove, New Caledonian Friarbird and Myzomela. Even our more experienced birders had to admit this was a big day and definitely one of the most successful of our voyage so far.
