Birding the Australian Bight

Our latest voyage, Birding the Australian Bight, is off to a great start and yesterday we encountered large numbers of White-faced Storm-Petrels in very pleasant conditions. A highlight for many people was a single Little Shearwater which sat placidly on the water and the sighting of five Bridled Terns was an unexpected bonus.

Today we had possibly the first ever sighting of Gould's Petrel in Australian waters.  As of noon the tally has risen to nine birds with many photographs taken.  A dark morph Soft-plumaged Petrel, a couple of White-chinned Petrel and four species of albatross have also been recorded.
