In Bering's Wake

The second expedition of our Russian far East season got underway from the Russian port of Petropavlovsk–Kamchatskiy on 21 July.

In the Wake of Bering honors the great explorer Vitus Bering and we are visiting many of the locations he mapped. So far we have made very successful landings at the Zhupanova River where we travelled up river by Zodiac in search of the amazing Steller’s Sea Eagle. From there we cruised to the remote Commander Islands where we spent two action packed days on both Bering and Medney Islands. One of our visits was to Commander Bay where the explorer was shipwrecked and subsequently died.

We are now approaching Karaginskiy Island where we will be landing this afternoon.
