Adare Proves Difficult

We arrived at Cape Adare last night after one of our fastest trips south (just 3 days and 2 hours from Macquarie Island), but were met with extensive push ice which has covered all the beaches preventing us from landing. There was nothing in the 24 hour weather forecast to suggest that this would change so we anchored there and enjoyed dinner and some great views over this very historic site before continuing south. With time on our side we hope to call there when we sail north again. We are now headed for Ross Island and the historic huts of Scott and Shackleton as well as Scott Base and McMurdo Station. This morning the temperature has dropped to -4C outside and there is quite a strong southerly wind and sea but it is forecast to ease this afternoon.
