2 Feb Voyage: Shokalskiy Ranganui Ramble

We moved up to Ranganui in the early hours of the morning in order to go ashore and climb through woodland to the Coast Watchers hut which gives a spectacular 360 degree view of the area. Beautiful calm waters and sunshine complemented by an array of wildlife including Sea Lions, Rockhopper Penguins and Bellbirds made this a very pleasant outing. Later in the day Rodney gave a presentation about the logistics of running expeditions which included the regulations around passenger ships and permits required to visit different parts of the world. Each area has its own unique challenges and after discussing the Antarctic region, he moved on to talk about the expeditions Heritage offers in the Russian Far East.
